Callerton Academy Permanent Site Newsletter: April 2025

We are excited to share news of the progress with the construction of our new school in this Spring update, and we are very pleased to tell you that everything is moving on well.

As you approach the site, you can see that the exterior is really coming together – cladding, brickwork, windows and curtain walling are all nearing completion. Landscaping work has begun, including tree planting and creating the areas of block paving that will welcome everyone upon arrival at school.

All the photovoltaic panels have now been installed on the roofs. As we mentioned in our last update, they are part of achieving a building that is carbon neutral in operation.

The MUGA (multi-use games area) has been finished, including colourful line markings for netball and handball. The grass on the sports pitches behind the school is growing really well, and in the coming weeks, we’ll be setting up protective nets to catch any stray golf balls from the nearby course, keeping us all safe.

Inside, progress is equally good. Morgan Sindall are steadily moving along with flooring installations and built-in furniture, with the science laboratories beginning to take shape.  The anticipation is building as we prepare for the next stages, which include wrapping up joinery work, flooring, and internal decoration. Soon, we’ll be ready to bring in all the loose furniture that’ll complete the vibrant learning spaces.

Our ICT contractor, European Electronique Ltd., will soon start working on site to install a state-of-the-art Wi-Fi system, along with all the necessary ICT equipment to support the highest quality teaching and learning.

Morgan Sindall have generously supported our highly successful Charity Week (which took place from 29th March - 4th April) through buying ingredients, selling cakes, providing an ice cream van during the charity walk day, collecting food donations, and donating funds from their scrap metal sales and we thank them for being such a great partner in our community.

We hope you enjoy the holidays and look forward to sharing even more exciting progress next term - keep an eye on our website and social media for photos as we enter the final stages of the construction programme.
