#WakeUpWednesday Parental Online Safety Update Adult animated content is increasingly visible on platforms such as YouTube, TikTok and streaming services. While the bright visuals and cartoon style may seem harmless at first glance, many of these shows and clips are created specifically for mature audiences, featuring strong language, sexual references, graphic violence and unsettling themes. This week's guide helps parents and educators understand the risks, from misleading visuals and algorithm-driven recommendations to desensitisation and edgy humour. It also offers practical advice on platform settings, open conversations and building children's critical thinking, so young people can navigate online animation safely and confidently. #OnlineSafety #keepingchildrensafeonline #GosforthGroup #CreatingFutures #CallertonAcademy

View PostEnglish at Callerton Academy: Our Year 7 students have been exploring editing as a potential career pathway in their recent English lessons. As part of their learning, they stepped into the role of professional editors, reviewing and refining a partner's creative writing piece. Students worked collaboratively, offering thoughtful feedback, suggesting improvements and considering how writers craft their work for an audience. It was fantastic to see how seriously they took the responsibility fully embracing the role and supporting one another to improve their writing. A brilliant example of creativity, teamwork and thinking beyond the classroom. Well done, Year 7! #CallertonAcademy #CreatingFutures #GosforthGroup #EnglishAtCA #CareersEducation #LiteracyMatters #Year7 #EditingSkills

View PostComputer Science at Callerton Academy: Over the last two Saturdays, a group of our Year 10 students studying GCSE Computer Science and OCR Nationals IT have been attending an Ethical Hacking course at Northumbria University They explored key aspects of cyber security and developed practical skills in accessing computer networks all within a safe, controlled environment. Alongside this, students examined the very real legal implications of unauthorised access and why understanding the law is just as important as understanding the code. By learning how ethical hackers test systems, students saw first-hand how organisations strengthen their defences against cyber attacks. It was fantastic to see them engaging so thoughtfully with such a fast-moving and important field of technology. They also had the opportunity to explore the university facilities and who knows... we may well see some of them back there in the future, helping to protect us from tomorrow's cyber threats. #CallertonAcademy #CreatingFutures #GosforthGroup #ComputerScience #CyberSecurity #EthicalHacking #STEM #FutureReady
