Attendance at Callerton Academy: A huge congratulations to 10A, who were last week's highest-attending form and celebrated their fantastic achievement with a well-earned pizza party! The challenge continues this week, with every form competing to achieve the highest attendance between Monday 29th June and Friday 3rd July. The winning form will receive an exclusive tour of St James' Park next Wednesday – an incredible opportunity to explore the home of Newcastle United behind the scenes! Every day in school counts. The exhibition features a fantastic collection of GCSE coursework, celebrating months of imagination, experimentation and hard work across a wide range of artistic styles and techniques. From Callerton Academy : A reminder to all parents and carers that Callerton Academy will be closed to students tomorrow - Wednesday 24th June - as staff from across the Gosforth Group attend the 2026 Employee Conference. This annual event provides colleagues with the opportunity to collaborate, share best practice and engage in professional development to further strengthen the education and opportunities we provide for our young people. Students will return to school as normal on Thursday. A reminder to Year 10 students and families that mock exams will continue on Thursday and Friday as scheduled. Fab Friday at Callerton Academy: Last Friday, we celebrated another fantastic Fab Friday, showcasing some of the incredible work being produced across the academy. Students proudly shared work from a range of subjects, discussing their learning, progress and achievements with staff. From detailed science notes and geography projects to creative written work and outstanding classroom contributions, there was so much to celebrate. A number of students were also recognised with Fab Friday certificates, highlighting exceptional effort, resilience and commitment to their learning. We are incredibly proud of the high-quality work on display and the confidence students showed when talking about their achievements. From Newcastle City Council : Did you know that applying for free school meals could help both your child and our school? From September 2026, Newcastle City Council is introducing updated free school meal arrangements. Eligible families can access support with the cost of school meals, helping children stay focused, healthy and ready to learn. Key points: All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 continue to receive Universal Infant Free School Meals automatically. Families receiving Universal Credit may be eligible for free school meals through the Targeted or Expanded schemes. If your child qualifies for Targeted Free School Meals, Callerton Academy may also receive additional funding to further support students through the Pupil Premium. Applying is quick and can be completed online, with instant responses available in many cases. If you think you may be eligible, we encourage you to apply and ensure your child receives any support available to them. Year 11 at Callerton Academy: As part of our Year 11 Celebration Assembly, we shared a special photo montage looking back on the last five years of memories, achievements and experiences that have shaped the Class of 2026. From their first days at Callerton Academy in Year 7 to the confident young people they are today, the video captured just a small snapshot of the friendships formed, opportunities embraced and milestones achieved along the way. Whether in lessons, on trips, performing on stage, competing in sports, taking part in clubs and enrichment activities, or simply enjoying everyday moments together, these photographs tell the story of a year group that has made a lasting mark on our school community.
