Sports Day at Callerton Academy: Our very first Sports Day was a fantastic celebration of teamwork, determination and school spirit! Throughout the day, students took part in a wide range of activities, including track and field events, dodgeball, football, ultimate frisbee, and, to round off an exciting day, the student relay races. As our inaugural Sports Day, the aim was about much more than winning. Students had the opportunity to set the first-ever Callerton Academy Sports Day records, creating benchmarks that future year groups will be aiming to beat for years to come. It was brilliant to see so many students encouraging one another, giving their best effort and representing their teams with pride. One of the highlights of the day was the staff relay race, where teachers swapped the sidelines for the starting line! With students cheering every step of the way, staff gave it their all in a fun and fiercely competitive race, bringing plenty of laughter, team spirit and friendly rivalry to the afternoon. Congratulations to our PE Department , who claimed victory in the relay... although members of the SEND Department and Science Department have raised a few light-hearted questions about whether the result was entirely above board! View PostYear 8 at Callerton Academy: As part of Yellow Week, our Year 8 students took part in a fantastic programme of team-building and problem-solving activities delivered by the Newcastle United Foundation! Working together, students tackled a variety of exciting challenges both at the Newcastle United Foundation and back at Callerton Academy . From constructing impressive towers and solving team puzzles to communication challenges and outdoor activities, every task encouraged students to think creatively, work collaboratively and support one another. These sessions helped to develop valuable life skills including teamwork , communication , leadership , resilience and problem-solving , while giving students plenty of opportunities to challenge themselves and have fun along the way. Miss Donnelly – Thank you for the care, guidance and opportunities you've provided as MCR Pathways Coordinator. Mrs Fowler – Thank you for four years of outstanding support as Attendance & Welfare Officer, building strong relationships with students and families. Miss Howells – Thank you for your leadership of Modern Foreign Languages and for inspiring students to embrace new languages and cultures. Mrs Innes – Thank you for your vision and leadership as Callerton Academy's founding Principal, helping to build our school from day one. Mr McEvoy – Thank you for your dedication to the Maths department and for the care and encouragement you've given as a form tutor.
