8D have produced some insightful analysis of Romeo and Juliet. We’ve been exploring the presentation of Lord Capulet through our understanding of the patriarchal society in which the play was set and written.

8C have had their opportunity to investigate WW1 through artefacts. They particularly enjoyed the theme of health and medicine through dressing up as a nurses and healing common injuries such as trench foot and shell shock!

Last week, the new GCSE Computing Science students were treated to a talk and interactive session lead by an expert from Intel on Artificial Intelligence (AI). Students learnt about current and future developments in AI, applications of the technology, and the ethical implications of its use. The experience was well received and valued by all involved, and is part of a wider drive within the Computing Department to take advantage of opportunities available from industry involving guest speakers, visits and competitions.

For our final topic in Year 7 music we have been composing. We listened to the soundtrack from the computer game, Assassin's Creed, and copied the compositional techniques in our own music. We have also been brushing up on our music theory by professionally notating our compositions.

Aim Higher at Callerton Academy:

Some of Year 9 have visited Durham University! Durham welcomed us with the beautiful cathedral, castle, and sunshine and we have been learning more about what university life at Durham is like!
