Callerton Academy's weekly round up - w/c 24th April

Year 7 Aim Higher university trip to Northumbria University has been a great success. Our Callerton Academy students got the chance to meet the university ambassadors who introduced university life with some interactive games including a 'University Unzipped' game.

Next students were given a tour of the university campus and facilities. Students were amazed by the choice of facilities on offer including specialist sports facilities, 3D printers that could bring designs to life, a jam packed library and their own branded cafes on campus.

In the afternoon they enjoyed a 'Game of Uni' and finished off with a Q&A session, answering all of the questions our curious Year 7s had.

We absolutely loved this experience and learned much more about what options we have for the future and we are very grateful to the Northumbria University team for being incredible hosts and ambassadors.

7UP Art Club have been working very hard to prepare a shadow puppet theatre and puppets for a special up and coming event at Callerton Academy.  This week we tested out our basic shadow frame. We still have lots to do but stay tuned to see the final outcome in June!

In Wednesday’s 7UP Microbiology Club we experimented with yeast and then poured our own agar plates ready for environmental testing next week! Our hands have never been as clean!

This week in Design Technology, 7Y have had to master their  photography skills to enable them to record their products before taking them home. What a resourceful group, well done!

Lots to celebrate again this week.

Congratulations to our Year 7 Star Readers from last half term who have made exceptional progress in their reading and congratulations to 7B & 8A for winning this last weeks' form class reading totals!

Well done everyone!
