Parent and Carer Letter

Dear Parents and Carers,

I am writing to inform you of a proposed change to the timings of the school day, which we plan to introduce from September 2026.

The proposed changes are intended to create a more consistent structure to the school week, with the same start and finish times each day, while continuing to protect the overall amount of learning time for students.

Under the proposal, the school day would begin at 8.35am and finish at 3.05pm. The day would consist of a 30-minute form period followed by five one-hour lessons.

This revised structure will reduce the amount of time lost to lesson transitions, allowing learning time to be used more effectively. Importantly, the total amount of learning time across the day will remain unchanged.

Extending the daily form period will strengthen the role of the form tutor and provide additional time to support pastoral care, PSHE and personal development, ensuring that students’ wellbeing and wider development continue to be a central focus of school life.
In addition, we intend to further develop our extra-curricular offer, which will begin at the end of the timetabled school day, providing students with increased opportunities to participate in enrichment activities.

Further information will be shared as we move forward, including opportunities for feedback.

Thank you for your continued support.

Yours sincerely,

Mr Pete Fox

Executive Headteacher
