January 2026
Dear Parents and Carers,
Happy New Year! I hope this letter finds you well and that you all had a restful and enjoyable festive break. It has been a lovely start back to the new year, and it has been wonderful to welcome the students back for the first week of term.
Key Dates
Attendance
We are really pleased to share that a large number of students have already qualified for our 100% attendance prize. These are students who attended for the final two weeks of last term and the first week of this one. We have also awarded an extra 20 reward stamps to all students who attended both the last day of term and the first day back. Successes don’t happen by accident. We know they are very much supported by the encouragement you give at home and your backing of our ethos that missing school is missing out. Thank you for continuing to work with us to promote strong attendance and a positive start to the new term.
Water Bottles
We kindly remind parents and carers that students are encouraged to bring a refillable water bottle to school each day.
School Coats – A Reminder
Students should have a black weatherproof coat to travel to and from school in. Hoodies and bodywarmers are not permitted.
Settling Back Into School
Coming back to school after a break can be tricky for some students and families, for many reasons. If you need support with your child, or something outside of school that affects your child, please contact school on 0191 605 3835 or via
admin@callertonacademy.org.uk to speak to your child’s Form Tutor or Pastoral Mentor. Our Pastoral Mentors are:
Combined Cadet Force for Callerton Academy – Call for Volunteers!
At Callerton Academy, we are looking to have a Combined Cadet Force Army from September 2026. This is an exciting development for our community. We are looking forward to having this extracurricular provision at our school. To run the CCF, we need to have volunteers to support the students with their activities. If you would like to get involved with the CCF, please contact Mrs Jameson on
anne.jameson@callertonacademy.org.uk by Friday 16th January to register your interest.

Parking and Road Safety
A polite reminder to families who drop off or pick up their children from school that we should be respectful of our residents. Please do not park in front of residents’ drives. Additionally, we have had a few concerned members of the public contacting us about a minority of students behaving unsafely on the roads. We continue to raise road safety with students in assembly and ask that you please also do so at home.
Aerosols
A reminder that students should not have aerosols cans (deodorants, body sprays, etc.) in school. Please ensure that your child does not bring them to school.
Kind regards
Katie Innes, Principal
