PE at Callerton Academy: Our Year 11 GCSE PE students have been learning about the pathway of air as part of their anatomy and physiology studies . During the lesson, students created and carefully labelled 3D models to show how air moves through the respiratory system from the nose and mouth , down the trachea, into the lungs , and through the bronchi, bronchioles and alveoli where gas exchange takes place . A really effective hands-on approach to securing key GCSE knowledge, supporting understanding of structure, function and exam-ready detail . Some sessions are free, with others available at a low cost, and no prior experience is needed. MFL at Callerton Academy: Here's a little festive dump from the Languages department since we've been hiding a bit this term! Well done to Year 7s and Year 8s who are taking Spanish and French and have shown fantastic work in both (some have even had enough time to learn some Christmas Carols in French)! Year 9 Spanish, well done for powering through a very intensely packed school week with much more Spanish on there than before! Your results are showing all the hard work you've put in! Science at Callerton Academy: Our Year 7 students rounded off their visit to Science at Life with an ice-skating session , where learning leapt straight off the page and onto the ice. As they skated, balanced and (occasionally!) slid, students were seeing forces in action friction, gravity, motion and momentum all playing out in real time. Science at Callerton Academy: Back in the labs at Science at Life, our Year 7 students explored states of matter, investigating how substances can change from solids to liquids and gases and even learning about sublimation. Pupils put their knowledge into practice with a "magic" investigation, using salt to make ice cubes stick to string, helping them understand how temperature and energy cause changes of state.
